Good Smells: 4 Reasons To Spark a Flame

Sometimes you just need to take a minute to relax. We completely understand. It’s so easy to plop on the couch, grab a snack and “veg” out with reality television until just taking a minute turns into hours on the sofa– but if we’re being honest, that usually just ends up making us feel worse.

Next time you just need a minute, grab a match and your favorite candle. Not convinced? Scroll on to find 4 reasons to spark a flame…

1. F O C U S

Harsh light can dull your brain power. Some days (especially Monday’s) it can feel as if the fluorescents hanging from the ceiling siphon their energy from your personal supply! Not only does the gentle glow of candle light help you re-focus, but there are certain scents that can give your brain a boost as well!

Next time you’re having trouble concentrating on the task at hand, try lighting a candle with notes from one of these productivity promoting scents:

Lavender

Rosemary

Peppermint

2. R E M E M B E R

It can be extremely easy to forget even the simplest task or request from a coworker, family member, or even your closest friend! We have so much information being thrown at us on a daily basis, sometimes it’s hard to recall it all.

For the days when your planner seems to be missing a few things, light a candle with one of the scents below to stimulate your memory:

Rosemary

Sage

Basil

3. E N E R G I Z E

You look at your watch and realize it’s only 3:00 p.m. You have two more hours before you can even think about heading home, but you’re drained to the point where you don’t know if you can go on any longer!…Yeah, it’s that bad. The dramatics are kicking in.

It’s okay. We’ve all been there. Take a few deep breaths, light a candle with one of these energizing scents, and show the rest of your day who’s boss:

Citrus

Fresh Cut Grass

Eucalyptus

4. D E S T R E S S

Funny how once you’re finally home from a long day, your brain starts going a mile a minute, right? It can’t only be us who have this problem! Home is the one place where you should be able to destress and just relax.

We’re not judging. The second you pull into the driveway, bee line to the bathroom, run a bath, dim the lights and spark a candle with one of these stress-reducing scents:

 Lavender

Coconut

Green Apple
